Our Leadership
Ms. Shwetha .R
Founder
Ms. Shwetha .R is the visionary Founder of Avyang Foundation. Her dedication to social welfare and community empowerment serves as the cornerstone of the organization's mission to support the marginalized and vulnerable populations of society.
Ms. Ashwini Rajan
Founder
Ms. Ashwini Rajan, Founder of Avyang Foundation, is a resilient and inspiring transgender leader whose life journey reflects courage, identity, and purpose. Born male but identifying as female from a young age, Ashwini experienced deep internal conflict while growing up, often feeling disconnected from societal expectations and her true self.
During childhood and adolescence, she faced confusion, social pressure, and lack of acceptance from family and society. Despite these challenges, Ashwini gradually found strength within herself and her community. At the age of 18, after facing emotional distress and a difficult phase in life, she made the courageous decision to leave her hometown and begin a journey of self-discovery and independence.
Ashwini worked in various roles—including at petrol bunks, showrooms, small shops, and service establishments—to support herself. However, her passion for community service led her to actively engage in social work, particularly focusing on LGBTQ+ communities, public health, and marginalized groups.
Over the years, she has held several key roles, including Community Advisory Board Member, Project Director for community-based organizations, President of a Sexual & Gender Minorities group, District Coordinator for Namma Clinic, and Advocacy Officer. Her work has spanned HIV/TB programs, community mobilization, and social awareness initiatives.
With over a decade of experience in grassroots development, Ashwini founded Avyang Foundation to create a safe and dignified space for homeless and destitute individuals, especially the elderly. Her leadership reflects inclusivity, compassion, and a strong commitment to restoring dignity and hope to the most vulnerable.
Today, Ashwini Rajan stands as a powerful example of courage and transformation—leading change, empowering communities, and building a more inclusive society.
